Discovering the geometry dash lesser-known city of Dordrecht, which is one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands, was akin to exploring a genuine fantasy. Compact and pedestrian-friendly, the cobblestone lanes are densely populated with charming, historic merchant homes, antique shops, artisan workshops, and rustic cafés.
The day was divided between an exploration of the town’s captivating streets and a visit to De Biesbosch National Park, located on the outskirts of Dordrecht. In the absence of heavy rainfall, we would have cycled from the central area of Dordrecht to the reserve, a journey that typically takes roughly 40 minutes. Instead, we opted for the moderate 10-minute trip using the nearby Waterbus service.
Just a few weeks ago, we became aware of De Biesbosch, which is one of Europe’s biggest freshwater tidal zones and is inhabited by some 300 beavers. Comprising roughly 22,000 acres of waterways, rivers, willow woodlands, marshes, and meadows, it was a delightful find.
